Hyundai and NEURA Robotics integrate robots in shipbuilding

The shortage of skilled labor is driving the adoption of cognitive robots as a strategic solution.

NEURA Robotics, HD Hyundai Samho and HD Hyundai Robotics have committed through an alliance to develop and test quadruped and humanoid robots specially designed to operate in demanding shipyard environments.

The agreement provides for the evaluation of the robots in real-world scenarios in order to validate their performance in tasks such as welding and weldinglogistics and inspection. This initiative comes in response to the shortage of skilled labor affecting the industry and is accelerating the adoption of intelligent solutions.

New robots for shipbuilding

HD Hyundai Samho will contribute its experience with automated systems in shipbuilding and will make its facilities available for field testing. For its part, HD Hyundai Robotics will contribute learning data and performance validation, particularly on welding automation. NEURA Robotics, from Germany, will integrate its cognitive robotics technology, including its humanoid 4NE-1to adapt its capabilities to the naval environment.

The robots being developed must withstand harsh conditions and collaborate with human workers. The goal is to combine cognitive perception and advanced mobility to cover repetitive, dangerous or high-precision tasks as part of a shipyard modernization strategy.

The agreement was signed during the Automatica trade show in Munich, where NEURA also unveiled partnerships with key players such as Vodafone, NVIDIA and SAP. These collaborations aim to strengthen the digital and operational ecosystem underpinning the next generation of intelligent robots.
