Sweden expands its solar leadership with new Axfood and Alight solar farm

Strategies that leave their mark

Simone Margulies, president of the Axfood Group, emphasized that this development represents a concrete step in the decarbonization of its operations. Currently, the new solar farm will cover around 15% of the company’s annual electricity consumption, which has already migrated to renewable electricity and fossil fuel-free transportation.

For Alight, this project reaffirms its expansion strategy based on PPAs without government subsidies. Warren Campbell, its CEO, emphasized that this new facility produces five times more energy than the first solar farm they built five years ago. The company aims to reach a total installed capacity of 5 GW by 2030.

The development was financed through a green loan from SEB and has network distribution by Vattenfall Eldistribution AB, consolidating a replicable model for future corporate partnerships in the Swedish energy sector.
