Global tire company Bridgestone is preparing to showcase its advancements in lunar mobility at the 40th Space Symposium. This event will take place in Colorado Springs, Colorado, from April 7-10, 2025. At this event, the company will showcase its innovative tires for lunar rovers .
Lunar mobility and technology for space missions
The company will present two concept models of second-generation tires , improved to fit small and medium-sized lunar rovers. These tires are lighter and more durable, an improvement over previous versions.
In addition to showcasing its technologies, Bridgestone will participate in a collaboration panel alongside renowned companies such as Toyota Motor Corporation , Idemitsu Kosan , and the Space Foundation . This panel discussion will focus on opportunities for collaboration between the United States and Japan, with a focus on lunar exploration projects and joint space missions.
Since 2019, Bridgestone has led the development of tires for lunar exploration , and in 2024, the company signed a partnership with Astrobotic Technology . This collaboration underscores Bridgestone’s focus on expanding its presence in the space industry, promoting greater co-creation with key companies in the sector.
