Renewable energy company Norvento has been selected to receive a grant from the European Innovation Fund to implement its self-sufficient, carbon-neutral factory project, neFO , at the As Gándaras Business Park in Lugo, Spain.

The neFO project: A self-sufficient factory

This development aims to build one of the most advanced factories in Europe, which will stand out for its ability to generate and store its own energy using cutting-edge technologies. This new facility will manufacture wind turbines , advanced battery storage systems , and energy converters , all designed to efficiently integrate renewable energy solutions.

This manufacturing center will meet the growing demand for renewable energy generation and storage products while reducing carbon dioxide emissions, with a positive impact of 187,000 tons of CO₂ avoided annually once the plant is operational.

The company continues to lead the way toward a more sustainable and cleaner future. The neFO plant represents its commitment to the decarbonization of the European energy sector and responds to the needs of a market that increasingly demands innovative and efficient solutions.

This support allows Norvento to realize our ambition of turning neFO into one of Europe’s most efficient and advanced factories for the manufacture of cutting-edge technological equipment and innovative, comprehensive energy solutions.

Pablo Fernández Castro, president of Norvento.

The European Innovation Fund is one of the largest financing initiatives for decarbonization projects in European industry. Its objective is to promote innovative technologies that facilitate the transition to a carbon-free economy, while supporting the development of competitive solutions in the energy sector.

The grant received by Norvento is a clear example of European support for technological innovation in clean and sustainable energy. The selection of the neFO development reflects the commitment to boosting the competitiveness of advanced renewable energy solutions.
