On February 20, BS Offshore and Ulstein Verft marked a significant milestone with the launch of the CSOV Yno 320, a state-of-the-art offshore operations vessel designed for tasks in the offshore wind energy sector. This new CSOV (Commissioning Service Operation Vessel) is equipped with advanced technologies that promise to transform the industry.

The new jewel from Ulstein Verft and BS Offshore

The Yno 320 is not just a common offshore service vessel, but an innovative TWIN X-STERN design model, which optimizes its efficiency and operation capability in harsh conditions . Equipped with a 3D offset crane and a Walk-to-Work gangway, this vessel facilitates the safe and efficient transfer of personnel and cargo to the wind platforms.

Diesel-electric propulsion and battery energy storage make it one of the most sustainable vessels on the market, with an even greener future thanks to its preparation for the use of methanol as fuel.

Preparing for delivery

The Yno 320 is currently at the Ulstein Verft quay, having been towed to the outer quay on 20 February . At this point, the final equipment installations were carried out before its official launch into the sea on 23 February.

The CSOV is scheduled to begin sea trials later this year , further enhancing BS Offshore’s operational capabilities. This innovative project strengthens the relationship between Ulstein Verft and BS Offshore and marks a crucial step towards a more sustainable future in offshore renewable energy.

Key features of the CSOV Yno 320

  • Accommodation capacity for up to 132 crew members and clients.
  • TWIN X-STERN design, which improves maneuverability and stability.
  • Cutting-edge technology: 3D-compensated crane, Walk-to-Work walkway.
  • Sustainability: diesel-electric propulsion system, battery energy storage, and ability to use methanol as fuel.
  • Commitment to the offshore wind industry, providing efficient solutions for the sector.

This state-of-the-art CSOV strengthens BS Offshore’s capabilities to support the installation and operation of offshore wind turbines , a key element in the transition to a cleaner, renewable energy future.
