EDP Renewables lanza parque solar en Mississippi

EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA) has inaugurated its new Ragsdale solar park , located in Madison County, Mississippi. With a capacity of 100 MW, this project will begin operations in late 2024, supplying clean energy directly to the Entergy Mississippi transmission system.

The highlight of this initiative is the collaboration with Amazon, which has signed a long-term 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

Solar park boosts local economy and clean energy

The Ragsdale Solar Park will contribute to the expansion of renewable energy in the southern United States and generate significant economic benefits for the region. Over the life of the project, more than $34 million in local taxes is expected to be paid, earmarked for key infrastructure improvements such as schools and roads.

In addition, approximately $15 million is expected to be paid to the owners of lands that house the park’s infrastructure.

The project is also an important step in EDPR NA’s commitment to sustainability. Ragsdale will be able to power more than 15,700 homes with renewable energy each year , while saving more than 127 million gallons of water annually compared to conventional energy sources.

The solar park has also committed to a net-zero emissions future, with plans to recycle solar panels through the Close the Loop program with partner SOLARCYCLE .

This launch reinforces the growth of renewable energy in Mississippi and solidifies EDPR NA as a leader in the development of large-scale solar projects in the state.
