DeepOcean, a global leader in ocean services, has announced the addition of the Orient Adventurer to its fleet . This high-specification subsea vessel becomes a valuable asset for the company, enabling it to offer operations and maintenance (O&M) as well as inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) services in the marine and conventional renewable energy sectors, primarily in the offshore field.
The charter agreement, signed with Dong Fang Offshore (DFO), ensures that DeepOcean will operate the Orient Adventurer from early 2026 to late 2027 , with the option to extend this period for up to four additional years. This addition aligns perfectly with the company’s vision to enhance its subsea capabilities and expand its global presence in the installation, maintenance and recycling of marine infrastructure in sectors such as oil and gas, as well as offshore wind.
The Orient Adventurer combines versatility and advanced technology
The Orient Adventurer, previously known as Polar Onyx, is currently working on offshore wind energy projects in Southeast Asia. This vessel has proven its flexibility in a variety of projects in conventional energy markets, from the North Sea to Brazil. Equipped with a 250-tonne crane and a vertical laying system (VLS) with a capacity of 275 tons, the Orient Adventurer stands out from other comparable vessels.
In addition, DeepOcean plans to install two remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) on the Orient Adventurer, allowing it to carry out more complex and specialized operations on the seabed. The option to add a below-deck carousel for the transport and installation of electrical cables further strengthens the vessel’s operational capability.
DeepOcean strengthens its fleet with a new vessel
We are excited to add this high-quality subsea asset to our fleet. The Orient Adventurer has already proven its efficiency and flexibility to us on a previous contract in Africa, and we know that its ability to operate globally will be an invaluable asset to our operations.
Said Øyvind Mikaelsen, CEO of DeepOcean.
This advanced vessel, combined with the company’s continued growth and technological innovations, will open up new opportunities in the renewable energy sectors and beyond conventional resources, in line with DeepOcean ’s long-term strategy to reduce its carbon footprint and move towards a more sustainable future.
