Vattenfall has announced a major tender, valued at €30 million, to contract helicopter transport services at its offshore wind farms located in Denmark and Germany. This initiative seeks to ensure efficiency and safety in the transportation of personnel and equipment, essential for the maintenance and troubleshooting of wind turbines at the Horns Rev 1 and Horns Rev 3 projects in Denmark, and DanTysk and Sandbank in Germany.
The bidding process in two phases
The contracts, which are divided into two lots, are scheduled to begin July 1, 2025, extending to September 30, 2030 in Denmark, and to May 31, 2027 in Germany. The tender covers the transportation of personnel to the turbines and the transfer of crews between offshore and onshore accommodation platforms.
Vattenfall has detailed that the tender will be carried out in two phases, beginning with an invitation for bids (ITT), followed by a best and final offer (BAFO) round. This competitive process ensures that only the best proposals will move forward, ensuring that the selected contractors can provide adequate access and availability of helicopters for operations in both regions.
Vattenfall wind farms lead the way in advanced technology
The Horns Rev 1wind farm, in operation since 2003, was a pioneer in large-scale installation in the North Sea. Horns Rev 3, meanwhile, is one of the largest wind farms in Denmark since its inauguration in 2019. In Germany, the DanTysk and Sandbank farms are outstanding examples of the installed capacity and advanced technology employed in the region.
The deadline for submitting applications for participation is September 19, 2024. Vattenfall continues to consolidate its position as a leader in the offshore wind sector, ensuring that the company’s offshore operations are conducted to the highest standards of quality and safety.
