The Walloon Administration has published a call for tenders aimed at developing a hydrogen ecosystem in the Walloon region of Belgium. Belgian government seeks collective improvement and to boost available hydrogen technologies.

The project is entitled “Service Market Aimed at Supporting the Walloon Administration in Governance Specific to the Hydrogen Sector and in the Establishment of a Hydrogen Valley in Wallonia”, and focuses on establishing an integrated ecosystem for hydrogen production, storage and use.
The deadline for submissions is June 21. The main objective is to find a partner to collaborate with the Walloon Administration on the governance structure, the development of the hydrogen valley and stakeholder involvement.
The selected partner will work with the government to create a governance model specific to the hydrogen sector. This model will include policies, standards and a regulatory framework to facilitate the transition to hydrogen use. use of hydrogen in Wallonia.
In addition, the project will seek to identify and collaborate with key stakeholders such as industrial partners, research institutions and potential investors. Strong collaboration is key to attracting investment and ensuring the success of the hydrogen valley.

Bidders must demonstrate their experience in hydrogen production, storage, transportation and distribution. This experience is important to meet the objectives of the Walloon Administration and to develop an efficient and sustainable hydrogen ecosystem.
In January 2024, Belgium reaffirmed its commitment to international trade in hydrogen and its derivatives. The Belgian Presidency highlighted the importance of promoting a credible certification system and market platforms to ensure transparency and encourage investment in the hydrogen sector.
