At AMPP 2024, Baker Hughes reaffirmed its leadership in energy technology with the introduction of innovative solutions for corrosion management in the oil and gas industry. During the event, Geoffrey Checkan, District Manager – Eastern GOM, highlighted advancements in chemical products and technologies that are redefining operational efficiency in the sector.
Chembine: An all-in-one solution for corrosion management
One of the most significant announcements was Chembine, a technology that combines multiple chemical products into a single solution. This innovation addresses corrosion, scaling, and iron sulfide issues simultaneously, optimizing operational costs and reducing the number of chemical products used in industrial processes.
It’s combining multiple different product functionalities into one product. So you might have a corrosion problem, you might have a scale problem, you might have an iron sulfide problem, all kind of interplay and interact in the corrosion mechanism. And we can basically put three solutions into one single chemical package and solve everything with one injection as opposed to three.

Production Solutions: Integrating chemistry and artificial lift
Baker Hughes also introduced its Production Solutions approach, a business model designed to optimize production by integrating chemicals with artificial lift technologies. This approach seeks to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs across the production chain and provide operators with deeper insight into asset performance and optimization opportunities.
The production solutions combination is combining chemicals and various forms of artificial lift under one umbrella, looking for different synergies, different additives, and how they might improve the overall cost of operations for our customers.

Innovations for downstream: Smart Guard corrosion inhibitors
In the downstream segment, the company presented Smart Guard corrosion inhibitors, a product line designed to prevent corrosion in refineries and enhance protection in distillation columns. These advanced solutions offer improved corrosion management efficiency and extend equipment lifespan, reducing maintenance and operational costs.
A commitment to efficiency and sustainability
With these innovations, Baker Hughes continues its commitment to technologies that optimize operational costs, reduce environmental impact, and enhance productivity in the oil and gas industry. The company reaffirms its dedication to the energy transition through the development of smarter and more sustainable solutions.
