Renowned Perenco announces the successful operation of its latest gas exploration and production project at the C06 well. This well, located in the vicinity of the well-known field within the South Ravenspurn sector of the southern North Sea, is a major find for the company.

Successful gas exploration and production

Throughout the last quarter of 2023, the Perenco team, using the Valaris-247 rig, successfully drilled and completed well 42/30-C06. An operation that was carried out in water depths of 48 meters, resulting in an increase in gas reserves estimated between 20 and 40 Bcf from a previously unexplored section.

During exploration, the gas well was initially tied into a temporary test system, allowing an accurate assessment of its productive capacity. During this test period, a gas flow rate of 12 MMscf/d (equivalent to 2 kbepd) was recorded, during which dry gas was piped to the Cleeton Hub and, consequently, to the Dimlington terminal located on the Yorkshire coast.

By the end of March 2024, well C06 is scheduled to be integrated into the production infrastructure managed by Perenco. This incorporation will be carried out through the installation of new permanent permanent pipelines in the upper structures of the RSC.

High expectations for new wells

This initiative is in addition to the recent activation of wells D15 and D16 in the Ravenspurn North field, bringing the total contribution of the new wells to a 40 MMscf/d increase in production, which translates to a 20% increase in Perenco’s managed production capacity in the southern North Sea.

Jo White, the CEO of Perenco in the UK, has highlighted the importance of these achievements at Ravenspurn South, underlining not only the significant increase in production managed by the company, but also the potential for future developments in the exploitation of tight gas fields within Perenco’s assets in the region.
