Full Academician at Engineering National Academy (ANI Argentina ) Teresa Perez, a metallurgy and corrosion expert with more than 30 years of experience, has been awarded “The Russell Brannon & John Keane Signature Award” at the AMPP + Expo 2024 Annual Conference held in New Orleans.
The award recognizes Dr. Perez’s career and efforts in the field of corrosion protection, including her work in the development of new materials and techniques to prevent the degradation of structures and equipment.
In an exclusive interview, Perez spoke with Inspenet CEO Francesco Solari about various topics related to her work.
Dr. Teresa Perez’s contribution to the research on the effect of nickel on trench formation in steels
At the conference, Dr. Perez presented her work entitled “The Effect of Nickel on Trench Formation in Low Alloy Steels in Sour Environments”. The research, which she conducted in collaboration with the Argentine Atomic Energy Commission, is part of the thesis of Dannisa Chalfoun, who is now also a doctoral candidate; it has shown that the presence of nickel can increase the susceptibility of steels to this type of damage, which may have important implications for the oil and gas industry.
Leadership in AMPP and promotion of science among young people
Dr. Perez is also an active leader in the Association for Materials and Performance Protection (AMPP), where she serves as president of the Argentine chapter. In this role, she has promoted the organization of webinars and events to disseminate knowledge about corrosion and materials protection among new generations of engineers.
