During a special evening at the AMPP Scholarship Night, the University of Akron proudly showcased its talented students who are paving the way in corrosion engineering. Mark Labib, Tanner Laughorn, Abigail Murray, Ashley Chow, and Jake Hughes, all excelling in their studies, shared their journeys and inspirations after receiving prestigious AMPP scholarships.
Mark Labib, a senior with multiple accolades including the PPG and Sherwin Williams scholarships, expressed his gratitude towards AMPP for supporting students in their academic and professional endeavors. Tanner Laughorn, also a senior, highlighted the unique and growing field of corrosion engineering as a draw for his involvement.
Abigail Murray and Ashley Chow emphasized the community and the significant impact of corrosion on everyday life as their motivators. Jake Hughes credited his decision to enter the field to the practical challenges corrosion presents and the solutions that AMPP helps facilitate.
“If you’re passionate about making a difference and are curious about the world of corrosion engineering, AMPP’s scholarships and community provide an excellent starting point,” said Mark Labib, echoing the sentiments of his peers.
