César Belinco, member of the Organizing Committee and referent of the Argentine Association of Non-Destructive and Structural Testing (AAENDE), shared in a recent interview the first details about the organization of WCNDT 2028, the next World Conference on Non-Destructive Testing. The event will be held in Buenos Aires and will make Argentina the epicenter for technological innovation in industrial inspection.

With great enthusiasm, Belinco said that this will be a world-scale event, which will bring together thousands of professionals, researchers, companies and manufacturers of advanced technologies in Non-Destructive and Structural Testing (NDT). A top-level technical agenda and an environment conducive to cultural, scientific and commercial exchange are expected.

AAENDE’s strategic role

AAENDE is the national entity in charge of representing Argentina before the International Committee for Non-Destructive Testing (ICNDT), the highest international organization in the field of non-destructive testing. Since its foundation, this non-profit association has actively promoted professional training, the adoption of quality standards and the articulation between the academic, scientific and productive spheres.

In 2016, AAENDE submitted its bid to host the event and, after a highly competitive election, was selected to organize the WCNDT Buenos Aires 2028. This decision not only recognizes its technical leadership, but also the country’s growing capacity to organize highly demanding international events.

WCNDT 2028: a world-class event at La Rural

The next World Conference will be held at La Rural, the most important fairground in Argentina and one of the largest in Latin America. Key exhibitions for the oil and gas industry are held there on a regular basis. The event will be attended by more than 15,000 people. The event will be organized by Messe Frankfurt Argentina, the local subsidiary of the well-known German company expert in international fairs.

The idea is to work very hard because organizing a big congress with 2000 or 3000 people is not easy.

To date, 30% of the exhibition spaces have already been reserved, while in 2026 the official call for scientific papers will be opened, starting a key phase of building technical content.

Technological and scientific expectations

The 21st edition of WCNDT promises to be a truly global showcase of advances in NDT technology, anticipating spectacular demonstrations in areas such as ultrasonic inspection, eddy current analysis digital radiography, electromagnetic techniques and automated visual methods.

Belinco emphasized that not only will there be keynote lectures and academic papers, the event will also feature a commercial exhibition area where the world’s leading companies will showcase their latest developments in the area of structural inspection, quality control and predictive maintenance.

This type of technology is increasingly critical in sectors such as energy, aerospace, infrastructure and transportation, where safety and operational efficiency are key factors.

An event that puts Argentina on the global map

The arrival of WCNDT 2028 is not an isolated event, but part of a long-term strategy to position the region on the global map of non-destructive testing technology. With a solid infrastructure, highly trained human resources and the support of an institution like AAENDE, the country demonstrates its ability to lead technically and at the same time project an open identity to the world.

The presence of exhibitors from five continents, together with the active participation of universities and research centers, ensures a multidisciplinary event of high value.
