The VIII Pan-American Conference on Non-Destructive Testing (PANNDT 2025) kicked off on June 9 at the Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls, Canada, with an agenda full of learning, strategic vision and innovative cultural proposals. The event, organized by the Canadian Institute for Non-Destructive Evaluation (CINDE), brought together professionals from across the continent for a day of technical exchange and cross-sector collaboration.

Technical training and continental leadership

From the early morning hours, attendees participated in short, intensive courses on new NDT technologies, ranging from ultrasonic techniques to advanced infrared inspection methods. These sessions provided updates on emerging tools and specialized methods that are changing inspection and quality assurance in critical industrial sectors.

Subsequently, the PAN executive meeting was held, where representatives from various American nations discussed strategies for strengthening the NDT sector in the region. This session served as a space to align priorities, define collaboration routes and evaluate common challenges in training, certification and technological development.

Culture as a stage for technology

In the afternoon, the focus turned to the thematic axis“NDT in arts and culture”, a session that captured the interest of the attendees due to its interdisciplinary nature. Among the outstanding presentations were:

  • The use of scientific analysis for conservation in museums.
  • Acoustic emission monitoring applied to preventive preservation.
  • Digital synergies for cultural heritage.
  • Cases on infrared inspection of historic structures.
  • A review of NDT capabilities in Latin America and the Caribbean.

These interventions demonstrated the adaptability of nondestructive testing techniques to contexts beyond heavy industry, reaffirming their role in the preservation of cultural memory.
