During his participation in the NISTM 2025 event, Shawn Dugan, Midwest Industry Manager of J2 Resources, shared the strategic vision that has positioned the company as a benchmark in solutions for liquid terminals and custodied hydrocarbon transfer.
J2 Resources is a specialist distributor of critical engineered products for refineries, terminals, chemical plants and midstream operators. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Houston, its proposition combines world-class technology, technical know-how and efficient logistics, under a direct model with approved manufacturers.
J2 Resources' focus is on providing end-to-end solutions for terminal operations, as Dugan explained, spanning the entire journey from the tank outlet to the loading point. This includes XL loading arms, Scully grounding systems, hydrocarbon measurement and level technologies such as Rosemount.
Unlike other distributors that offer catalogs with up to 20 manufacturers, J2 Resources takes a highly selective approach.
"We work with five or six key manufacturers who have been with us since our earliest days and represent the best in class."
Shawn Dugan stated.
This selection allows us to offer specialized support, greater quality control and faster responses to customers.
This model avoids brand dispersion and promotes long-lasting relationships that translate into a deeper knowledge of each product, facilitating technical integration with the end customer's requirements.
Currently, J2 Resources represents products such as Brodie meters in eight southeastern U.S. states and Texas. This coverage allows them to guarantee operational consistency in different markets, complying with local standards and offering a portfolio aligned to the needs of the terminal sector.
Local teams provide technical and logistical support tailored to local conditions, keeping response times to a minimum and ensuring immediate availability of key materials.

J2 Resources' expertise also extends to critical technical services such as HF Alkylation and low temperature systems, these environments require certified components and proven experience.
The company participates in projects that require large-diameter, thick-walled pipes, typical in hydrocarbon transportation infrastructure. These segments value traceability and guaranteed quality from the source, as well as the ability to respond quickly to last-minute requirements or engineering modifications.
One of the main challenges in the industry is to work with materials that meet the customer's technical requirements. In this regard, J2 Resources only works with manufacturers that are part of end-user approved lists.
"All our products are sourced from manufacturers on approved lists, which eliminates risk and ensures compliance from the start of the project."
Dugan said.
This practice shortens delivery times and ensures technical conformity from the first shipment.
The strategy of J2 Resources combines precise selection of manufacturers, active regional presence and technical expertise. In a demanding market such as the midstream, where safety and efficiency are non-negotiable, the company has established itself as a reliable partner.
With this proposal, J2 Resources maintains its position in liquid terminals and expands its reach to complex and highly regulated projects throughout the country. The commitment to quality, traceability and specialized support is what differentiates this company in a competitive and technical market by nature.
