During the final day of the PANNDT conference, the Inspenet team had the opportunity to speak with Randy Outzen, Director of NDT Sales for the United States and Canada at PFINDER. With more than three years with the company, Randy highlights the company’s pioneering role in the development of the Green NDT concept and its impact on efficiency, safety and global compliance.

Pioneers in sustainability within NDT

Since 2015, PFINDER has marked a turning point by introducing the Green NDT concept in a sector traditionally dominated by aggressive chemicals. Through the substitution of oil-based materials with less hazardous raw materials, the German company has succeeded in transforming the environmental approach within technical inspections.

When carrying out inspections, for example, in a confined space, situations can occur in which the inspector can end up dizzy or with a headache. With PFINDER products, thanks to the raw materials we use, this does not happen.

This change has directly impacted the health of operators, allowing the company to offer unique solutions that eliminate unnecessary risks by using cleaner, biodegradable and water-washable materials.

Better performance without compromising quality

A frequent doubt when faced with sustainable solutions is whether they sacrifice efficiency, however, PFINDER’s experience proves the opposite, since far from losing capacity, its products offer more accurate and safer defect identification.

Outzen emphasizes that these advantages have been validated in critical fields such as metal refining, power generation, automotive, and aerospace, demonstrating that it is possible to have an environmentally responsible product that simultaneously improves discontinuity visibility and ensures reliable results.

In addition, many of its products can be disposed of directly down the drain, which is a clear competitive advantage in an industry that often requires complex waste disposal processes.

Compliance with international standards

With a global presence, PFINDER has ensured that it complies with quality and safety standards in all markets where it operates, whether in the United States, Canada, Europe or South America. They achieve this by aligning their products with standards such as ISO and EN, ensuring immediate applicability in international projects.

We are present all over the world, and what we have achieved is to comply with all the standards all over the world. […] just like in the United States and EN, ISO in Europe and many other places, South America, all over the world.

Listening to the customer as the basis for development

A central pillar of the company’s success has been its consultative approach, which, far from being limited to product sales, focuses on working hand in hand with its customers to understand their specific needs and tailor its solutions to each operational context.

This approach has enabled many initially skeptical companies to embrace Green NDT products for good. Active listening and co-creation have been key to developing formulations that meet and exceed market expectations.

Looking to the future from the PANNDT booth

PFINDER will continue its active presence at international events such as ASNT, where they plan to continue sharing advances and consolidating relationships, with their characteristic commitment to sustainability, safety and technical excellence, which keeps them at the forefront of Green NDT.

With a clear focus, globally validated products and a customer-centric philosophy, the company reaffirms itself as a benchmark in the sustainable consumables market for non-destructive testing.
