During his participation at the PANNDT congress, Mike Corbett, Sales Engineer, discussed DÜRR NDT’s latest developments in the area of NDT digital radiography. From image acquisition solutions to workflow management software, the German company is strengthening its focus on efficiency, portability and global compliance.

Based in Germany and present in more than 100 countries, the company is positioned as one of the most active firms in the digital transformation of the industry, and its participation in technical conferences such as PANNDT reinforces that commitment.

NDT software for interpretation and inspections

D-Tect X: optimized radiographic image acquisition

One of the cornerstones of DÜRR NDT’s technology portfolio is the D-Tect X software, designed to optimize image interpretation in industrial environments. Unlike traditional methods that use film, the software allows specific areas to be enlarged with precision, making it easier to identify the edges of a discontinuity, as well as incorporating length, width or area measurement tools and an attenuation coefficient module, which helps detect differences in wall thickness. These features are key to meeting technical standards without compromising operational agility.

With D-Tect X, we have numerous tools to facilitate this task. You can zoom in, which makes it easy to see the edges of a discontinuity. Once this is done, we have a measurement tool that allows you to measure length, width or even area.

DriveNDT: a system that manages global inspections

Another key component of the company’s technology ecosystem is DriveNDT, an operational management platform designed for multi-site environments and distributed teams. With this NDT softwaresoftware, companies can assign tasks to technicians based on their certifications, manage skills expiration dates, control equipment calibrations and monitor projects from any location.

If a client wants to see their project, they can log in, see which technician is working on it and, again, what stage of the project they are in or in progress.

In addition to centralizing data and reducing administrative errors, DriveNDT behaves as a business management system focused on non-destructive testingIt helps to meet deadlines, standardize processes and document findings automatically.

Flexible panels: the solution for complex accesses

On the other hand, the company presented its flexible x-ray panels, one of its most striking developments. For years, flat panels dominated the market for their speed of acquisition, but their rigidity and size limited their use in hard-to-reach areas.

This type of solution will be especially useful in industries such as petrochemical, naval or aerospace, where inspections are performed in confined spaces or in non-standard geometries.

DICONDE compliance: traceability at source

The company has also made significant progress in complying with the DICONDE standard, an essential technical requirement to ensure interoperability and traceability in NDT digital radiography, by being part of the ASTM E07 subcommittee on DICONDE, where it has adopted a collaborative approach.

This process ensures that the digital files contain all the necessary information about the inspection, such as parameters, results and location. In addition, the company generates compliance reports after validating its images in independent software, which strengthens transparency to clients and regulators.

A comprehensive proposal for the future of NDT

The interview with Mike Corbett confirms that NDT digital radiography is entering a new stage, where the combination of portability, digital intelligence and regulatory compliance redefines the rules of the game.

From software that analyzes images in seconds to detectors that roll up to inspect a weld in a narrow pipe, DÜRR NDT proves that it is possible to innovate without sacrificing accuracy. In addition, its product ecosystem and global strategy strengthen technical support and user experience.
