Mexico boosts corrosion protection with key AMPP events
The corrosion protection industry in Mexico is undergoing a moment of transformation and professionalization thanks to the efforts of AMPP Mexico Chapter, an organization that has taken a leading role in technical training, personal certification and the creation of spaces for the exchange of specialized knowledge in corrosion.
One of the leaders of this drive is Alejandro Lagler, Vice President and Co-Founder of the Mexican chapter of the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP), who shared in an interview his vision of the state of the sector and the organization's plans to strengthen it.
Founding to grow: the beginnings of AMPP Mexico
Alejandro Leichler clearly remembers the period when, together with Gustavo Romero, he founded the Mexican chapter of AMPP. Since then, he says, the sector has made significant progress, although he recognizes that there is still a long way to go.
There is still a lot of work to be done, but we have come a long way. I think we are making a lot of people aware of the need to raise the technological level of our market.
Alejandro Lagler.
Training, certification and professionalization
One of the strategic pillars of AMPP Mexico's work has been the technical training of professionals and companies in the anticorrosion sector. According to Leichler, the conditions do exist in Mexico to improve the skills of technicians and contractors, but it requires will and commitment.
What we are looking for is for the technicians who are in the market to be trained and certified. We also want the companies, the contractors, to become certified, to become qualified, to grow in the level of knowledge of their work.
Alejandro Lagler.

IMCORRS: education and networking in the heart of Mexico
With this vision, AMPP Mexico is organizing the Integrity Management and Corrosion Seminars (IMCORRS) on August 18 and 19, for the first time in Mexico City. This event will bring together technical leaders from Mexico and abroad to discuss best practices in corrosion protection and material integrity.
Originally conceived by Gustavo Romero, IMCORRS will offer technical lectures, case studies, discussions and an industry networking platform that strengthens collaboration among professionals. Registration for the event can be done through the website, where interested parties can find all the information related to the event, including the agenda, speakers and registration process.
The value of creating technical community
Beyond the events, what drives the work of AMPP Mexico is the construction of a solid technical community, oriented to continuous learning, continuous updating and regional technological leadership. Alejandro Lagler concluded by reiterating the invitation to actively participate in the IMCORRS event, and also in the transformation process of an industry that is essential for the country's energy and industrial future.
