AMPP strengthens its global leadership and industrial growth

AMPP's integration and expansion process marks a new stage in the corrosion industry, focusing on talent, innovation, and global reach.

Additionally, during the AMPP Annual Conference + Expo 2026, the organization showcases advancements in governance, training, and technological development.

Key leadership in the evolution of AMPP

First, AMPP's evolution in recent years cannot be understood without the role of figures such as Dr. Amir Eliezer, Past Chair of the Board of Directors. His involvement during the merger between NACE and SSPC was decisive in shaping the current organization.

During his speech at the event, Eliezer highlighted that the greatest challenge was integrating two organizations with different backgrounds and cultures into a single solid structure. Although a merger had been proposed previously without success, the process completed five years ago marked a turning point for the sector.

Thus, one of the biggest challenges was not just executing the merger, but ensuring its continuity over time. The important question was whether this union would be able to last for a decade or more.

From two structures to unified governance

On the other hand, one of the most significant achievements has been the transition to a unified governance model. Initially, following the merger, AMPP operated with two boards of directors, which created complexity in decision-making.

However, over time, the organization moved toward a single structure. This change, which began to take hold two years after the merger, is already an operational reality in 2025.

According to Eliezer, this process represents the organization's greatest success, as it allows for more efficient management aligned with AMPP's global objectives.

Regaining trust and rebuilding the community

In this context, another critical aspect was regaining the trust of members; although more than 90% voted in favor of the merger, there was uncertainty about the organization's future.

Over time, indicators reflect a positive evolution; AMPP has grown from 32,000 members to over 40,000 in just two years. This growth demonstrates a progressive consolidation of the community.

Likewise, one of the most significant events has been the reactivation of student chapters. After the merger, these practically disappeared, forcing the base to be rebuilt from scratch.

Today, AMPP has 61 student chapters, most of them outside the United States, which strengthens its international positioning. This expansion has been possible thanks to initiatives such as global roadshows and closer ties with local communities.

Young talent and innovation as strategic pillars

Consequently, attracting new generations has become a priority for AMPP. The industry faces a talent shortage affecting both young profiles and experienced professionals.

Eliezer emphasizes that new generations demand fast solutions and highly technological environments. Tools such as drones, robotics, and data analysis are part of their expectations.

In this sense, one of the major challenges is bridging the gap between laboratory research and field application. This challenge, comparable to the medical field's distinction between in vitro and in vivo studies, requires new methodologies and technologies to accelerate processes.

Furthermore, integrating laboratory capabilities into industrial environments will improve equipment and optimize results, raising the level of innovation in the sector.

AMPP and its role in the global industry

In parallel, AMPP has strengthened its organizational structure by creating strategic verticals in key sectors such as energy, maritime, and construction.

These areas are directly linked to today's major infrastructure and energy transition challenges. The organization has also intensified its efforts in the legislative arena, promoting initiatives that connect professionals with governments and regulatory entities.

Likewise, expansion into new markets is another pillar of growth. Countries like India represent a significant opportunity due to infrastructure development such as pipelines and the growing demand for technical standards.

This global focus allows AMPP to position itself as a relevant player in defining best practices and improving material performance internationally.

Training, certification, and the future of the sector

Looking to the future, AMPP is committed to strengthening its educational and certification offerings; although its recognition is high in the United States, there is significant room for growth in other markets.

The need to train and certify professionals will be key to meeting the global demand for talent. In this sense, the organization seeks to increase the visibility of its programs and expand its international reach.

On the other hand, technological advancement opens new opportunities in materials development. These include coatings capable of integrating sensors or even self-healing, which could transform infrastructure maintenance.

Additionally, factors such as rising sea levels and the need to build infrastructure in more demanding environments pose new challenges for the industry.

A vision connected to the future

Finally, Eliezer emphasizes that AMPP's growth is closely linked to its ability to generate collaboration networks. The connection between professionals, companies, and governments will be decisive in facing the sector's challenges.

Events such as the AMPP Annual Conference + Expo reinforce this ecosystem by facilitating knowledge exchange and the generation of opportunities.

In this way, AMPP continues to consolidate its role as a global leader in materials protection and industrial performance, with a strategy focused on talent, innovation, and international expansion.
