Since Alleima was established as an independent company in 2022, following its spin-off from Sandvik, the company has undergone a profound transformation. According to its President and CEO, Göran Björkman, this change marked a turning point for the organization, emphasizing that, in essence, it’s the same products, the same people, but now with much more focus, more energy, and more pride.

A new chapter after the separation

By becoming an independent entity, Alleima gained greater freedom in its capital allocation strategy, allowing it to boost key business areas. The spin-off allowed resources to be managed internally, without depending on the priorities of other segments of the former conglomerate, which facilitated a more agile approach focused on internal growth. Perhaps most importantly, however, has been the cultural impact, as the teams are motivated, committed, and proud to belong to a brand with its own identity.

More than 160 years of metallurgical experience

The company wasn’t born out of nowhere, as it has a heritage stretching back more than 160 years of metallurgical experience. This history, combined with its mastery of the entire value chain, from foundry to final application, gives it a solid technical advantage. Its portfolio encompasses a highly specialized range of alloys, executed with a technological vision that positions it as a leader in the sector.

Firm commitment to the energy transition

Alleima’s role in the energy transition is increasingly relevant because the company already has a presence in traditional energy segments such as oil and gas, but also in expanding areas such as hydrogen, solar energy, biopower, and, most notably, the nuclear sector, which has gained strength in the company’s strategic portfolio.

Björkman explained that they are actively investing in the nuclear sector, both in new construction and in the modernization of existing reactors. He noted that there is a resurgence of interest in nuclear energy, which is why power companies are extending reactor lifespans, generating demand for new equipment and solutions. Furthermore, in the hydrogen sector, Alleima develops and markets products daily, accompanied by a solid investment in R&D.

Commitment to safety and energy efficiency

In contexts where safety and sustainability are paramount, the company focuses on materials that improve industrial processes and reduce operational risks. Björkman emphasized that nuclear energy may have a certain perception of insecurity, but there have only been two serious accidents in its history, which puts the benefits into perspective compared to the challenges.

With a portfolio of solutions ranging from seamless stainless steel tubes to components for medical devices and materials for industrial heating systems, Alleima is establishing itself as a key player in the drive toward a cleaner, safer, and more efficient energy future.
