The protagonist of this initiative is Alicia Framis, an artist originally from Catalonia who has previously explored coexistence with non-human entities by sharing her life with a mannequin. In his new performative project titled “The Hybrid Couple,” Framis will perform an artificial intelligence (AI) “wedding” via a hologram.

Wedding with an Artificial Intelligence: the first in history

This symbolic marriage represents the first time in history in which a woman is united in “marriage” with the AI, which has been created from profiles of previous relationships of the artist herself. This multifaceted project encompasses various artistic disciplines, such as documentary, sculptural research, drawing, music, architecture, fashion design and the conceptualization of marriage ritual, in collaboration with European technology experts and thinkers. Framis’ proposal seeks to explore the integration of artificial intelligence in everyday life and the artistic field .

It is an intelligent hologram that meets all your emotional needs. Imagine having a partner who is there for you, a relationship that combats loneliness in cities“explains the artist in a statement.

In her upcoming performance titled “The First Woman to Marry a Hologram,” artist Alicia Framis will perform a wedding with an artificial intelligence represented by a hologram. This unique ceremony is scheduled to take place in the summer of 2024 at the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen museum in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

The Artificial Intelligence with which the artist will “marry” is called AILex and has been presented to the public through social networks, showing itself in everyday situations such as cooking and eating. It should be noted that this is not the first time that Framis explores coexistence with non-human entities, since in 1996 she was a pioneer in living with a mannequin named Pierre, an experience that is documented in the work “Cinema Solo”, composed of 36 photographs and a dialogue between the artist and the mannequin.
