Vlieghuis-Ochtrup pipeline interconnection
This 53 km section, which currently transports natural gas, is being adapted for a new function. From 2027, the infrastructure will be ready to transport green hydrogen. transporting green hydrogenboosting the sustainable energy network in the region. The groundbreaking ceremony, held in Hoogstede, was attended by representatives of the government, local businesses and municipalities, underlining the support for such projects.
Thyssengas’ experience, which spans more than a century in gas transportation, ensures that this transformation is carried out to the highest safety standards. By reusing existing pipelines, the environmental impact is lessened compared to building a completely new infrastructure.
Adapting existing infrastructure for hydrogen transport is an essential strategy for achieving decarbonization goals. The company also mentions that the Vlieghuis-Ochtrup project is a tangible step forward in the effort to achieve a climate-neutral energy supply.
