Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has reached confirmation of more than 1 GW in firm orders for large-capacity onshore wind turbines in Germany. This milestone is driven by two new contracts: the 22 MW Weisendorf project and the 14 MW Bernau Albertshof II.

High demand for onshore wind turbines in Germany

With these acquisitions, Vestas strengthens its leadership in the European wind market, particularly in the range of turbines over 7 MW, where the V172-7.2 MW and V162-7.2 MW models stand out. These variants are part of the modular EnVentus platform, designed to maximize energy production in low to medium wind zones.

We are pleased to celebrate this milestone of 1 GW in order intake for our 7 MW+ wind turbine variants.

This shows that these variants have become the preferred choice of our customers, especially in Germany.

Since 2023, Vestas has been field testing four prototypes of these turbines. The first commercial units will be installed in Germany during 2025, marking a new phase in their commercial deployment.

In addition, both variants have received relevant certifications such as Maschinengutachten, declaration of design conformity and provisional type certificate.

The EnVentus platform, launched in 2019, has accumulated more than 19 GW in global orders and more than 10 GW in installed turbines, reinforcing its positioning as a reference technology in large-scale onshore wind power.
