The company UXOcontrol, a subsidiary of the N-Sea Group specialized in unexploded ordnance(UXO) detection, has been selected to carry out a UXO campaign in an offshore wind farm. The activities will cover both the main area of the farm and the export cable route corridor.

The UXO campaign schedule

The campaign will begin in May with munitions identification work, incorporating areas requiring study of non-ferrous munitions, by means of magnetometry magnetometry. These activities will be carried out from the DP2 support vessel N-Sea Pathfinder, equipped with dynamic positioning technology and multibeam sensors.

The schedule foresees continuous operations until well into July, prioritizing underwater safety and the integrity of the wind project. In addition, possible munitions removal actions will be left for a later phase, depending on the findings of the first stage.

The N-Sea Pathfinder was recently upgraded and is ready for highly complex missions. With a 40-person capacity and 360 m² of usable deck space, the vessel integrates USBL positioning systems, R2Sonic multibeam, and GNSS PPP correction navigation technologies, ideal for UXO surveys.

With this new campaign, N-Sea and its subsidiary UXOcontrol confirm their role as technical partners for the energy transition. The integration of expertise in offshore environments, advanced technology and focus on environmental safety positions the company at the forefront of marine services in Europe.
