Unitree Roboticsa leading Chinese manufacturer of intelligent robots, has raised $138.9 million in its most recent round of funding. The Series B2 funding round saw participation from Chinese lifestyle platform Meituan, Goldstone Investment and Source Code, as well as reinvestment from existing shareholders such as Shenzhen Capital Group and the China Internet Investment Fund, the company announced.

The proceeds will be used for new product development and research, business expansion and team building. Founded in August 2016, Unitree specializes in the research, production and sale of high-performance robots for both consumers and industry, including bipedal robots and quadruped robots, six-axis manipulators, among others, according to information available on its website.
The company’s primary focus has been the development of quadrupedal robots, although last year the company expanded its scope into the creation of humanoid robots.
Unitree Robotics’ foray into the humanoid robot arena underscores the ongoing evolution in the robotics sector, marking an important milestone not only for the company but for the industry as a whole.
