The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) and diesel to Germany, until 2023, under an agreement signed this week during German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s visit to the Gulf nation, official Emirati sources reported.

The agreement was signed by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and the German company RWEAG/RWE, in the presence of Scholz and the Emirati President, Mohamed bin Zayed, and provides for the supply of LNG to Germany in 2022 and 2023, according to the official news agency, WAM.

Under the agreement, “ADNOC will export the first cargo of LNG to Germany and deliver it by the end of 2022 for use in the trial operation of the floating natural gas import terminal in Brunsbüttel, Germany,” WAM said.

Furthermore, “under the agreement, ADNOC has allocated additional LNG shipments to its customers in Germany, to be delivered in 2023,” it added.

The agency did not disclose details on the amount of these “shipments”, although it reported that Bin Zayed and Scholz also witnessed today the signing of a new “strategic association agreement in the field of energy acceleration, security and industrial growth”. ”.

In addition, ADNOC announced that it has reached another agreement with the German “Heuer GmbH” for the supply of up to 250,000 tons of diesel per month during 2023, according to the official Emirati agency.

For its part, the Emirates announced a partnership with specialized German companies to “develop the national hydrogen strategy” within the framework of the Emirati’s plans to control 25% of the global hydrogen market.
