In a context marked by continuous attacks on Ukraine’s energy grid, energy company Uniper has delivered a significant donation of technical equipment for gas storage in Ukraine. This measure aims to ensure the stability of energy supply both in Ukraine and throughout Europe.

Coordinated Delivery and High-Level Logistics

The delivery, consisting of critical spare parts and specialized components such as compressed air compressors, gas fittings, and emergency power generators, was managed with authorization from the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC). This European Union body facilitates civil protection cooperation between member states and private companies.

The technical shipment was transported in January 2026 via approximately 30 trucks with a total weight of nearly 200 tons. The components were delivered to Poland, where Ukrtransgaz—the operator of Ukraine’s gas transmission system—received the supplies for subsequent transfer and strategic storage within Ukraine.

Importance of Gas Storage in the Region

According to Michael Lewis, CEO of Uniper, this initiative represents a moral commitment and a concrete action of European solidarity. He added that access to energy is a basic human right, especially in regions where it cannot be taken for granted.

Gas storage facilities serve a strategic function: they balance seasonal demand fluctuations and act as an operational buffer during emergencies. This technical support from Uniper directly contributes to preserving the energy security of the entire region.
