Uniper has signed a long-term sales and purchase agreement with QatarEnergy for the purchase and supply of liquid helium, sourced from the Ras Laffan complex in Qatar. The agreement calls for the annual supply of 70 million standard cubic feet for an initial 15-year period beginning in September 2025.

The agreement guarantees Uniper a stable source of high-purity helium, essential for multiple industrial and scientific sectors.
Liquid helium is a critical resource in the manufacture of semiconductors, medical devices such as MRI scanners, fiber optics and aerospace technologies. It is also used in research laboratories, specialized welding processes and professional diving systems.
With a direct supply from one of the most advanced facilities in the world, Uniper strengthens its capacity to respond to the growing international demand for this noble gas. The contract strengthens its energy portfolio and allows it to diversify sources in a market that is highly sensitive to logistical disruptions.
