Infinity Two is positioned as the first viable proposal for a fusion power plant. 350 MWe fusion power plant 350 MWe fusion power plant backed by a peer-reviewed physical basis. Type One Energy announced the completion of the first formal design review of this system, an achievement that brings it one step closer to making continuous electric generation using fusion technology a reality.
Technical review supported by international references
The design review committee, chaired by the company’s chief technology officer, Dr. Thomas Sunn Pedersen, incorporated experts from the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory and Westinghouse Electric. The evaluation confirmed that Infinity Two’s comprehensive approach, based on stellarator technologytechnology, meets the reliability, performance and operational feasibility requirements of the industry.
The design is moving forward in the framework of a possible implementation with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), consolidating the goal of achieving a commercial-scale operating plant. The patented stellarator technology will allow operation on two-year cycles interrupted by 30-day planned maintenance, taking advantage of materials currently available in the industry.
Type One bets on fusion plant
Type One Energy has integrated expertise from partner companies such as Atkins-Realis to optimize ancillary systems. The design prioritizes the plasma core, construction logistics, scheduled maintenance and economic efficiency, key points for large-scale deployment.
The company, founded in 2019 and backed by venture capital from 2023, seeks to establish itself as a central player in the transition towards sustainable energy sources. With the FusionDirect program it aims to minimize risks on the way to a functional plant in the next decade.
Positive review of Infinity Two validates its design and accelerates global interest in cleaner, more efficient and scalable for cleaner, more efficient and scalable energy solutions.
