LimX Dynamics has officially unveiled its TRON 1 robot , considered the world’s first multi-modal bipedal robot . This development promises to transform the field of advanced robotics with a focus on research and machine learning .
Three-in-one multi-modal robot
This robot, weighing less than 20 kg, stands out for its ability to switch between three types of locomotion: toe, sole and wheels , making it an ideal research platform for various environments. The TRON 1 is designed to facilitate research into movement algorithms and is also a fundamental tool for advancing the field of artificial intelligence and reinforcement learning .

As seen in the video, one of the most striking features of TRON 1 is its modularity. Users can configure the robot to their needs, selecting between different locomotion modes, making it a versatile solution for researchers and developers. This system allows scientists to work in both simulated and real-world environments , bridging the gap between simulation and implementation in the physical world.
Custom Functions
In addition, LimX Dynamics offers a completely open development environment. The company has released an SDK and hardware interface that allow developers to fully customize the robot’s functions , from basic control to more advanced algorithms.
The TRON 1, which is the commercial version of P1 , as reported by New Atlas, is now available for pre-order, with a starting price of USD 15,000 (until December 31, 2024), making advanced robotics technology accessible to a wider audience of researchers, universities and technology development centers.
