The Montpelier solar plant, currently in its final development phase, will be connected to the PJM system, one of the largest power grids in the United States. This connection will ensure a stable and traceable supply that will directly power Google’s data center operations. Google’s data center operations data centers in the region.

Data centers are responsible for a growing fraction of the world’s electricity consumption. For Google, ensuring that energy demand is met from sustainable sources is a priority for the company.

This new contract reflects a strategy focused on generating local impact in regions such as the U.S. Midwest, while boosting regional economic development and improving electric system reliability.

With this transaction, TotalEnergies expands its portfolio of customized developments for the technology sector. The company currently deploys 10 GW of renewable capacity in the United States, including solar, wind and battery storage projects. In the PJM market alone, where the Montpelier plant will operate, it has 1 GW under development.
