TotalEnergies announces the start of production from the BEGONIA and CLOV Phase 3 projects. These operations leverage existing infrastructure to add 60,000 barrels of oil per day through subsea interconnection.

BEGONIA and CLOV Phase 3 projects

Both projects use installed FPSOs (floating production and storage units): BEGONIA is linked to the PAZFLOR FPSO and CLOV Phase 3 to the CLOV FPSO. Such a strategy allows minimizing marginal costs and carbon intensities, in line with the French company’s sustainability commitments, to offer on the market.

Located 150 kilometers off the Angolan coast, BEGONIA is the country’s first inter-block development. It consists of five subsea wells and has a production capacity of 30,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

The project is the result of cooperation between TotalEnergies (30%), Sonangol E&P (30%), SSI (27.5%), ETU Energias (7.5%) and Falcon Oil (5%), together with the National Agency of Oil, Gas and Biofuels(ANPG).

At 140 kilometers offshore, CLOV Phase 3 adds another 30,000 barrels per day from four wells connected to the CLOV FPSO. TotalEnergies leads with a 38% stake alongside Equinor, ExxonMobil, Azule Energy and Sonangol E&P.

The BEGONIA and CLOV Phase 3 projects allow Angola to maintain its extraction level above one million barrels per day. In addition to its technical relevance, the BEGONIA project stands out for integrating local content, while CLOV 3 reflects the effective coordination between ANPG and the consortium led by TotalEnergies.

The company continues to strengthen its upstream upstream production in Angola in Angola with low operating cost developments and a reduced carbon footprint. This dynamic is aligned with its goal of increasing production by more than 3% by 2025, consolidating its presence in Africa as a benchmark in responsible energy extraction on the continent.
