This green hydrogen generated will be blended with natural gas and distributed through the Torrent Gas network in Gorakhpur. This integration will supply both residential developments and CNG stations. CNG stations stations and local industries. The aim is to reduce pollutant emissions in energy sectors, without the need to modify the existing infrastructure.

According to experts, this is the largest hydrogen-natural gas blending project implemented in India’s urban distribution system. In addition, the start of its operations strengthens Torrent’s role in the energy sector and lays the groundwork for a possible replication of the model in other regions of the country.

The Torrent Group, through its Power and Gas divisions, maintains its focus on clean, reliable and practical energy solutions. The Gorakhpur plant is part of its efforts to build a sustainable energy matrix that supports India’s international climate change commitments.

This project comes at an important time for Indian energy policy, which seeks to increase the supply of clean energy in its energy mix. The use of hydrogen as a vector for decarbonization reinforces this commitment, and Torrent has established itself as one of the private players with the greatest capacity for technological implementation in this area.
