Mooreast & NTOU Team Up for Breakthrough in Floating Platforms

Mooreast Holdings has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU ) with National Taiwan Ocean University ( NTOU ) to carry out joint research on the development and research of floating platforms for offshore wind farms.

This agreement aims to improve structural designs and increase the efficiency of platforms used in floating wind power generation, a rapidly expanding field in the Asian region and around the world.

The collaboration will span two years and integrates Mooreast Taiwan ’s engineering design expertise with NTOU ’s conceptual design and research capabilities. This project includes analysis of the dynamic response of waves , which will improve the stability and performance of the platforms in various maritime conditions. In addition, the two entities will work on the development of new materials and the optimization of installation methods to make the platforms more efficient and durable.

Sim Koon Lam, CEO of Mooreast , highlighted the importance of this collaboration in driving the development of floating technologies in the renewable energy sector. “ We are very excited to work with an academic institution like NTOU, and we are confident that this collaboration will strengthen Taiwan’s position as an essential hub for floating wind energy in the region ,” he commented.

For his part, Hsu Tai-Wen, president of NTOU , stressed that this project is in line with the Taiwanese government’s policies to promote energy transition. The university will use its expertise in ocean engineering to support the localization and adaptation of floating wind technology, helping to strengthen Taiwan’s competitiveness in the global market.

Training, development and formation of professionals

The organizations will offer internships and organize seminars so that students and industry professionals can gain practical knowledge and apply their skills in real-world projects. This initiative seeks to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical experience, preparing a new generation of engineers specialized in renewable energy.

With this collaboration, Mooreast reaffirms its commitment to developing floating energy technologies that are efficient, sustainable and cost-effective. In addition, the project reinforces its strategy to bring innovative solutions to the global market, using Taiwan as a platform for research and development in the offshore wind energy sector.
