The renewable energy sector in Spain has a new benchmark with the entry into operation of the Alange solar park , the most ambitious photovoltaic project by the Valencian company Umbrella Global Energy. With a capacity of 27 MWp, this installation in Badajoz will generate enough energy to supply more than 15,400 homes per year and will avoid the emission of approximately 5,400 tons of CO₂.
A key investment for the energy future
The construction of this solar plant has represented an investment of 20 million euros, consolidating the growth of Umbrella Global Energy in Extremadura. The company has opted for an expansion strategy in the region, where it has already developed other infrastructures in Zafra and Olivenza. With the entry into operation of Alange, the company’s photovoltaic project reaches 80% of its total connection capacity .
The start of operations in Alange is a key step in Umbrella Global Energy’s evolution towards an Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. This strategic change implies that the company develops infrastructure, directly manages the generation and commercialization of electricity in the wholesale market.
This project not only strengthens our commitment to the energy transition, but also demonstrates Extremadura’s potential as a renewable energy hub.
Said Enrique Selva, CEO of Umbrella Global Energy.
Environmental impact and sustainability of the solar park
The Alange photovoltaic park has been built with a focus on sustainability. The company has implemented measures to minimise the impact on the soil and preserve the original vegetation of the area. The installation will significantly contribute to the decarbonisation of the electricity grid and reinforces Spain’s role as a leader in solar energy in Europe .
With this new addition, Umbrella Global Energy reaffirms its commitment to clean energy and positions itself as a key player in the transformation of the country’s energy model.
