Bidding documents for the Floating Solar Project 1 will be open until April 18, 2025, with sealed bids opening on July 14, 2025. This floating solar project falls under Thailand’s Energy Development Plan 2018-2037 , with the projection of developing more floating solar projects on dams nationwide, reaching a total capacity of 2,725 MW by 2030.
The installation of solar panels on the dam’s reservoir will provide clean energy while optimizing existing hydroelectric resources, respecting the environment, and promoting sustainability. Furthermore, the project aligns with EGAT’s vision of promoting the use of renewable energy and supporting Thailand’s commitments to combat climate change, making it a leader in the transition to a cleaner energy mix.
Mr. Thidade Eiamsai, Deputy Governor of Power Plant and Renewable Energy Development at EGAT , underscored the importance of this project in meeting the country’s climate goals, highlighting that the initiative aims to mitigate environmental impact while meeting Thailand’s growing electricity needs.
