Dr. José Vera, gave Inspenet TV an exclusive interview from the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, in San Antonio, Texas, USA, during the AMPP 2022 Annual Conference and Exposition.

See, it’s a Ph.D. in chemistry and chemical engineer with more than 45 years of experience in the oil & gas area and on this occasion he gave the conference “Interpretation of the H2S eliminator (inhibitor). Results of laboratory tests using a kinetic model”.

During his lecture, he explained that a kinetic model was developed, implemented to aid in the interpretation of the H2S scavenger (inhibitor) test with results obtained from the CSTR with continuous gas flow procedure. Using this kinetic model, parameters related to the kinetics of the H 2 S scavenger reaction can be extracted and used to qualify chemicals for a specific application. The kinetic model also simulates the effect of different test parameters on experimental results and can be used to extrapolate laboratory results to field conditions.

“One of the problems that occurs in the oil industry is that when they design new systems, offshore or inland, sometimes there is no H2S in system, then, they do the whole design assuming that there will be no H2S throughout the useful life of the assets, however, there is a problem and that is that the reservoirs begin to turn sour and this is due to poor water injection, which has bacteria and H is produced2Yes (…)”, explains Vera.

We invite you to watch the Tech Talking program on the Inspenet TV channel where he explains other topics at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6BH8lL6Z_w today Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.: 00 Colombian time.
