Subsea engineering firm Subsea7 has been selected by Chevron Australia to execute a new package of activities on the Gorgon Stage 3 Project, one of the largest offshore energy initiatives in the country.
The comprehensive scope of the Gorgon project
Subsea7’s scope includes complete project management, from engineering and procurement to fabrication, transportation, installation and pre-commissioning of subsea systems. These operations will take place in a location 1,350 meters below sea level, which is a highly technical environment for offshore solutions.
The initial engineering phase has commenced from Subsea7’s Perth office, with specialist support from its centers in Kuala Lumpur and Paris. Offshore activities are scheduled to commence in 2028.
David Bertin, Subsea7 senior vice president of Global Projects for the Eastern Hub, said this contract represents a new development in the long-term relationship with Chevron. Both companies will seek to maximize the operational reliability and technical integrity of the development.
The Gorgon Project, located off the west coast of Australia, is a strategic infrastructure for the region’s energy supply and one of the world’s most important gas developments. This third phase expands its capacity with new subsea tie-in lines and associated production systems.
The agreement highlights Subsea7’s international experience in subsea engineering and its ability to execute complex solutions in offshore environments. The company thus reaffirms its commitment to sustainable energy development in Australia and its ability to adapt to the most demanding industry standards.
