SIAD and Brembo have closed a joint investment of two million euros in Hydrospark, an Italian start-up developing hydrogen technology that seeks to improve the energy storage and generation of the future.

Hydrogen technology and the sustainable future

This agreement provides for equal participation between the two companies. SIAD, with a long history in the industrial gases sector and Brembo, a leader in high-performance braking technologies, are channeling the investment through Brembo Ventures, their venture capital unit. Both firms recognize Hydrospark’s potential to improve energy efficiency in industry and mobility.

Hydrospark has developed a platform based on patented ceramic materials and optimized manufacturing processes. This technology enables the production of solid oxide fuel cells with high energy density and lower manufacturing costs. The cells generate electricity and heat with zero emissions, while allowing the storage of renewable energy in the form of hydrogen.

The start-up was founded by Petroceramics and engineer Fabrizio Gualandris, who holds several patents in hydrogen technologies. The company is recognized for its expertise in advanced ceramic composites, and provided the scientific and technical basis for the creation of a solution that combines research, sustainability and scalability.

With this capital injection, Hydrospark expects to reach profitability in its second year of operations and reach an annual production capacity of one million cells. The technology aims to become a strategic link in the hydrogen supply chain, driving clean energy solutions for industrial and mobility applications.

Both SIAD and Brembo have expressed that this investment is aligned with their long-term strategy of promoting solutions that accelerate decarbonization. The collaboration with Hydrospark represents an opportunity to actively contribute to the development of technologies that enable a cleaner and more efficient future.
