The agreement aims to accelerate the adoption of floating power generation units, facilitating reliable and dispatchable electricity for grid integration. Through artificial intelligence and cloud tools, the technologies will improve efficiency, flexibility, and reduce operating costs.

The collaboration will explore new ways to integrate advanced analytics and artificial intelligence into floating power generation. For example, solutions such as Microsoft Copilot , Copilot Studio , and Azure AI Foundry will be used to optimize system reliability, energy efficiency, and reduce environmental impact.

Initially, the alliance will focus on floating gas-fired power solutions with carbon capture and storage on the UK and Norwegian Continental Shelf. This phase will serve as a model for global expansion in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas, aligning with decarbonization and energy security goals.

On the other hand, Olivier Icyk, CBO of SBM Offshore, highlighted that the collaboration will enable the design of scalable and sustainable energy approaches. Meanwhile, Darryl Willis, corporate vice president at Microsoft, noted that the integration of AI will help optimize and scale clean energy models in floating applications.
