Mining company Savannah Resources said Portuguese authorities had approved its environmental impact assessment for what could become the largest lithium mine in Western Europe, calling the move an “important milestone” for the project.
London-based Savannah received preliminary approval for its Barroso open pit mine from the Portuguese environmental regulator APA (Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente) in 2021, but had to make changes required by the authority and resubmitted it early of this year.
