Sanmar Shipyards, one of the world’s leading shipyards specializing in tugboat construction, celebrated the delivery of the tug UT Patzcuaro to Ultratug, a maritime services operator with a broad presence in Latin America, on October 6 in Altinova, Turkey.
Although both companies have had a business relationship for more than two decades, this is the first time that Sanmar has built a tugboat specifically for Ultratug, formalizing the relationship between the two companies in the industrial field.
Characteristics of the tug UT Patzcuaro
The UT Patzcuaro is a RAmparts 2400SX-MKII model, designed by the renowned naval architecture firm Robert Allan Ltd. With a length of 24.4 meters, a beam of 12 meters and a draft of 5.45 meters, this tug has a length of 24.4 meters, a beam of 12 meters and a draft of 5.45 meters. harbor tug offers a pulling force of 75 tons and reaches a speed of up to 12.5 knots.
It is powered by Caterpillar 3516E main engines, which meet the stringent IMO Tier III emissions standard, thanks to a Caterpillar SCR aftertreatment system that drastically reduces nitrogen oxides. It also features Fi-Fi 1 fire suppression and modern accommodation for up to eight crew members.
Next destination: Colombia
Sanmar already has a sister tug under construction to reinforce Ultratug’s operations in Colombia, evidencing the intention of both companies to deepen their cooperation and strengthen their joint presence in Latin America.
Ultratug has assigned the tug UT Pátzcuaro to the port of Lázaro Cárdenas, one of the main logistic nodes of the Mexican Pacific.
