FBR Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding with Australian construction company Habitat (NT) Pty Ltd. to supply its Hadrian X construction robot. The agreement provides for the initial sale of one unit for A$7.8 million, subject to technical details and factory acceptance testing.
A robot to speed up construction in Darwin
The region faces a significant housing shortage. The Northern Territory is failing to meet the demand for new housing, pressured by subsidies such as the HomeGrown Territory program, which provides $50,000 to first-time homebuyers. In addition, military infrastructure improvements are driving up construction activity.
Habitat plans to integrate the robot Hadrian X in the construction of Besser block walls in housing and defense projects. This is intended to complement the capacity of traditional masons, especially blockies, whose demand exceeds the available supply.
Agreement details and technical support
The memorandum establishes an initial phase of technical information exchange. If the final agreement is signed, Habitat will be required to provide a 10% deposit and pay the balance upon successful validation testing of the equipment. FBR agrees to provide on-site training in Perth and remote maintenance support, including licensed access to TAD architectural software.
FBR CEO Mark Pivac highlighted the robot’s potential to accelerate the robot’s potential to accelerate construction and address the housing crisis. For his part, Paul Winter, leader of Habitat, underlined the interest in using technology to meet the growing demand from the residential and defense sector in northern Australia.
