Saipem has reached an agreement with the Norwegian company Deep Value Driller AS for the acquisition of the drillship “Deep Value Driller seventh generation drillship “Deep Value Driller”. The agreed price amounts to $272.5 million, in a transaction that marks a firm step in the Italian group’s offshore asset expansion strategy.
The vessel currently operates in Indonesian waters under a bareboat charter contract signed between Saipem’s Portuguese subsidiary and DVD. This contract will remain in force until July 31, 2026, when the transaction is expected to become effective, once the necessary approvals are obtained from the boards of directors of both companies.
Deep Value Driller for deep water
This vessel, considered one of the most modern in its class, is equipped with state-of-the-art technology for deepwater operations. With its incorporation, Saipem seeks to strengthen its position in the offshore drilling segment, while ensuring disciplined management of its capital.
In addition to expanding its technical capabilities, this acquisition is in response to increased global demand for offshore drilling services in key markets in key markets such as Southeast Asia. Saipem thus reinforces its capacity to operate in demanding environments, with its own highly specialized assets.
