Royal Caribbean has reached a new milestone in its innovative line of cruise line with the launch of the Legend of the Seas, the third ship in its renowned Icon Class. The event took place at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, where the ship hit the water for the first time, advancing to its next phase of construction.
Beginning of the final stage before the European debut
During a technical process that took about 12 hours, the shipyard’s dock was completely filled, allowing the cruise ship to be moved to the outfitting dock.

Experiences for everyone in 8 onboard neighborhoods
Capable of delivering state-of-the-art family adventures, Legend of the Seas will include eight themed neighborhoods. Among them are the Category 6 water park and Crown’s Edge, a suspended structure that combines catwalk, ropes and high-altitude adrenaline.
Onboard offerings will also include multiple dining options, live entertainment and relaxation areas for both adults and children.
Mediterranean and Caribbean Cruises
Beginning in August 2026, the Legend will operate seven-night itineraries in the Western Mediterranean, departing from iconic ports in Europe.
It will then move to the Caribbean, where it will offer six- and eight-night routes to the Western and Southern Caribbean, including stops at the company’s popular private destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas.

Clean propulsion and environmental commitment
This will be Royal Caribbean’s fourth ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) (LNG), contributing to a more efficient operation and lower emissions. It will also be equipped with waste heat recovery systems and in-port electrical connectivity, aligning with the group’s commitment to zero net emissions cruising by 2035.
The Legend of the Seas represents a clear commitment to redefine the standards of maritime maritime vacations. Royal Caribbean plans to announce more details about the ship in the coming months, as anticipation continues to grow within the global travel industry.
