Propulsion specialist Rolls-Royce Power Systems has launched a new version of its mtu Series 2000 M97L engine, designed specifically for high-performance yachts and fast craft. This upgrade offers a substantial improvement in power while maintaining efficiency and minimizing its environmental impact.
A compact design with more power in the mtu 2000 Series engine
The new model delivers up to 2,011 kW(2,735 bhp), surpassing previous generations of the mtu 2000 line. This additional power does not compromise the size of the system, while retaining a compact architecture, which is essential for vessels where space is limited.
On the other hand, the engine maintains compliance with international IMO Tier III regulations, without the need to install additional aftertreatment systems. This advantage makes it an attractive option for shipowners seeking to reduce emissions without sacrificing space or performance.
This new mtu 2000 supports integration with hybrid propulsion systems. This option allows operators to switch between electric and conventional modes, optimizing fuel consumption and reducing noise in coastal navigation or environmentally sensitive areas.
