Repsol and Alsa accelerate sustainable mobility in Spain

By 2025, Alsa expects to consume five million liters of HVO in its long-distance buses.

Repsol and Alsa have signed a strategic agreement in Madrid with the aim of promoting a more sustainable mobility model in Spain. The alliance seeks to strengthen the use of multi-energy solutions such as renewable fuels, hydrogen, electricity from renewable sources and digital technologies applied to the operational efficiency of transport.

The joint commitment of Repsol and Alsa

With this agreement, both companies establish a framework of activities to reduce emissions from road transportation through the use of alternative energies. The development and supply of second-generation renewable fuels, capable of reducing net CO₂ emissions by up to 90% without modifying current infrastructures or vehicles.

These measures will allow Alsa to advance in the renewal of its fleet and improve the environmental performance of intercity transport.

In the technology sector, work will be carried out on tools for traceability of the use of renewable fuels, with the support of partners such as Bosch, as well as on the digitalization of fleets through platforms such as Solred and Waylet. Energy efficiency will also be promoted through initiatives such as Energy Saving Certificates.

The agreement allows training programs for professionals in the transport sector to advance, aimed at raising awareness of the essential role of passenger mobility in the energy transition. These training actions will be aimed in particular at drivers, fleet managers and technical managers.

This agreement strengthens Repsol and Alsa’ s historical commitment to sustainable mobility. In recent years, they had carried out pioneering pilots such as the use of renewable diesel in Burgos and in Burgos and Madrid, or the implementation of energy digitalization systems.
