The company has received support from the state and federal governments to promote this project, with an investment and a global order book exceeding $9 billion. The plant will house the production of components, final assembly and pre-delivery tests of the Viceroy model, with capacity for 12 passengers.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, which brought together more than 100 guests, REGENT CEO Billy Thalheimer highlighted the plant’s importance to the local economy. The state of Rhode Island has provided incentives of up to $13 million to encourage job creation, with a commitment to create 300 jobs and potentially reach 750 over the next decade.

Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee emphasized that the facility reinforces the state’s position as a leader in maritime innovation and sustainable energy. ” Thanks to initiatives like this, Rhode Island is establishing itself as a hub for technological and manufacturing development ,” he said.

In addition to attracting venture capital investment and establishing partnerships with the US defense industry, the company is preparing to conduct the first sea trials of its full-scale prototype. This historic event will include the first manned flight on a Seaglider , scheduled for this year.

With the launch of this plant in 2026, REGENT is positioning itself at the forefront of sustainable maritime transport, expanding its global impact and consolidating Rhode Island as a leader in the blue economy.
