Reganosa lands in Australia with the management of the LNG terminal in Port Kembla

The plant will be able to cover up to 70% of the gas demand of the Australian eastern market.
Terminal de GNL de Port Kembla

The Spanish company Reganosa has been selected by Squadron Energy to operate and maintain the onshore part of the new liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Port Kembla, Australia. This contract marks Reganosa’s entry into the oceanic continent and is part of an initial five-year agreement with an option to extend.

Port Kembla LNG terminal capacities and scope

With this decision, Squadron Energy, Australia’s largest renewable energy developer, Squadron Energy, is strengthening its energy strategy through critical infrastructure for gas supply in New South Wales.. The plant, equipped with a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), will be able to meet up to 70% of demand in the eastern Australian market.

The LNG terminal has the capacity to store 170,000 cubic meters of gas and can regasify up to 130 petajoules per year, equivalent to 3.61 billion cubic meters per year. It is connected to the distribution network by a 12-kilometer pipeline, designed to facilitate dispatch to consumption centers at peak demand.

In addition to the metering station and control room, Reganosa will be in charge of the auxiliary systems and equipment associated with docking and gas transfer maneuvers. This integrated management model, already proven by the company in infrastructures in Europe and Asia, allows it to adapt to changing conditions in the energy market.

International expansion and energy collaboration

The strategic alliance between Squadron Energy and Reganosa not only brings stability to gas supply in the region, but also supports the energy transition process in Australia. The project is emerging as a concrete solution to the impending gas shortage on the east coast, integrating international expertise with local capabilities.

The choice of Reganosa is based on its track record as a global operator of energy infrastructures, with assets in five continents and participation in key terminals in Spain. This expansion into Oceania reinforces its international presence and consolidates its profile as a technical partner in highly demanding energy projects.
